Daylight Savings Bug

Like in Australia a couple weeks earlier, when Europe went off DST, iPhones went off late, making some bosses and workers rather unhappy. Seems like a pretty major and costly bug for such a well-developed phone such as the iPhone. One can only begin to wonder how many hours of productivity have been lost worldwide due to this bug. Hopefully it’ll be fixed in 4.2.

Verizon iPhone

With all the rumors circling around the supposedly in-production CDMA iPhone, it’s nearly certain that the iPhone will make it onto Verizon, either this year or next. I’m already picturing Apple’s ads for it- “The iPhone on Verizon, finally.” I see one potential problem though- CDMA doesn’t support data and calling like GSM does, but maybe they’ll figure it out. Also, a reason why people complain about AT&T is the high monthly price for the iPhone plan, but what they don’t realize is that Verizon is probably going to be even more expensive, seeing as it’s expensive even for regular smartphones.

iPhone Surpasses Blackberry

C’mon, you knew this was going to happen. RIM’s feeble attempts at gaining back users with the Torch and the new webkit-based browser were too little, too late. Funny how only a year ago, Blackberry still had a firm grip on the market. Oh how times change.

Steve Jobs On 7-Inch Tablets And Android

I agree with him, as 7 inches is truly too small to be a worthy iPad competitor. Even on the iPad’s 10-inch screen I feel ever so slightly restricted, and having two different screen sizes for the iPads will make all the devs hang themselves. It’s already a chore to develop for three devices: iPad, iPhone 4, and older iPhones. It’ll be three devices once Apple puts the retina into the iPad 2. Going back to the topic, this basically confirms that Apple will not be making a smaller iPad soon.
