PSP Phone

Funny how Sony ran ads making fun of thr iPhone and now they go and make something similar. Who’s laughing now, Sony?

Also, it appears to be based on Android, so expect to see Playstation games appearing on other Android phones, officially or not.

Ray Ozzie's Corporatespeak

That’s Microsoft for you, right there. It’s apparently a memo on the state of Microsoft, but worded in such a way that makes it difficult to understand what he’s getting at. I guess Microsoft didn’t get the memo that transparency doesn’t only mean writing about your company, it also means the consumer has to understand what the hell you’re getting at. It still puzzles me why corporate suits choose to communicated in such a wordy, bullshit-laced way. Only place this kind of wording would be useful for is on an English final that you didn’t study for at all. In contrast to that crap, see Panic’s blog, which is clearly worded and engaging.

Firesheep

Eric Butler just released this interesting little plugin for Firefox, it apparently can log you in as anybody who is using the same network, due to unencrypted cookies. You need the latest beta form of Firefox (which is 4, beta 6 as far as I know) for it to work. So go on and try it, knowing that you’re doing it for a good reason— to expose these security holes.

Apple To Increase Size Of Data Center

Reportedly, Apple is increasing the size of its still-unfinished data center in Norh Carolina. Some people say it’s for Apple’s upcoming streaming music service, but I highly doubt it. Music providers won’t even allow Apple to make longer previews, so streaming music seems like a stretch at this point. I’m willing to bet that it’s for one of (or all of) three things:

  • Ping. If it ever gets bigger, Apple will need an infrastructure big enough to handle it.
  • Apple TV. Apple needs the servers for Apple TV’s streaming service.
  • Mac App Store. iOS apps are mostly small in size, whereas Mac OS X apps are not. Apple needs power to handle numerous simultaneous downloads of possibly large files, especially if giants like Autodesk and Adobe ever make it into the Mac App Store.

HP Slate Fail

Now pardon my English, but what the fuck is the point of all these stickers? If Apple can leave them out, why can’t HP? I mean, they’re already copying the iPad with the design of the Slate, why not copy the simplicity and common sense of it too? Design by committee strikes once again.
